Counselling Services
I provide counselling services to a wide cross section of organisations.
My aim is to provide a local professional service to both large and smaller sized businesses who want to look after their key members of staff.
Even if you already have an EAP (employee assistance programme) in place you may want to offer, or make available, a more individual form of support to certain members of your organisation and this is where I can help. In fact many business owners now seek their own form of support outside of the workplace to cope with the pressures of doing more for less, increased pressure and stress and responsibilities.
Offering Early Interventions can make a real difference
In my experience, the sooner support is offered the better - having a short number of counselling sessions early on can stop sickness absence becoming a problem. Giving an employee the support to remain at work under difficult times can sometimes be the best thing. Counselling can offer strategies and ways of thinking and coping to work through a difficult time. It can also help with loss of confidence in the workplace helping to achieve a more successful return to full productivity, or from a time of sickness absence, and a fresh start.
It's a win win solution for both the organisation and the individual and the cost benefits are well proven and established.
The Pressures on Managers
Even if there is a small number of employees, or even just one, affected by mental health issues at work it can have a knock on effect throughout the whole organisation.
Team relationships can suffer, as can employee/customer relations. Offering a form of support early on can help prevent problems with colleagues and customers and boost company morale.
Managers often feel the pressure of trying to support their staff in difficult situations - not knowing what to do for the best. Being able to refer the employee on to a confidential form of support which also supports the manager can be a huge relief all round and benefit everyone involved.
